In this annual tournament series we will be reliving the past, remembering back to the MTM1 days and the fun that started us on this journey to MTM2 and beyond.

CrashCart was the original brainwave behind a Nostalgia Tournament idea.. i decided this was something that certainly had merit for a number of reasons and this is why i agreed to run it and continue it as a Special Tournament each year.

I have been asked why we are not just racing the MTM1 stock tracks.
We do not run the stock tracks in tournaments because the user made addons are usually more interesting and stock provide the minimum only. While we would be hard pressed to do anything without MS or TRI, they are not what made the game as it is. Using the custom tracks pay hommage to those who made the game fresh and exciting.

We all know what nostalgia is.... the remembrance and fond memories of things past, in this case our online game of MTM. The online community and addons is what makes MTM stand out from the rest. If we only use stock we may as well play any old game out of the box. Nostalgia comes from the community here not MS or TRI.
Some of the tracks that will be selected each year for this tournament bridge the mtm1/2 gap - like mtm1 canyon with mtm2 art and models, were it not for those early makers, in all honesty, i ask you, would we be here today?

I recently saw a book review written by Phineus on 'inside moves' and i have quoted an extract from that review below, it will help our newer racers to understand just that bit more about this great game and remind the seasoned racers how this game has stood the test of time.

"Monster Truck Madness was first available for retail sale in nineteen ninety six, was two years in development (which pushes it back to nineteen ninety four) and was probably first conceived well before that time. When the game was finally released, it was a ground breaking advance in 3D graphics and multiplayer technology, and Tom's Hardware used it to develop the "first real world direct3d benchmark." The sequel, Monster Truck Madness 2, which came out shortly after the release of Monster Truck Madness, added to game's legacy with the same basic components which were so far ahead of everything at the time that it's still being played and enjoyed by a thriving community even now some ten years after most games of the era have long since vanished."
This was a sample of the Award for the Championship Series 2005, that the overall points winner will receive. The one pictured is the 1st place award, similar ones for minor places.  The winners names will be engraved on these Awards. They may then be downloaded by the winners to their computers and placed on their own or teams website if they so wish.

The background for this award is an aerial view from the track Canyon '99 by Alpine.

There will be a different design each year.

I wish all racers good luck in the tournament and hope you have fun and enjoy the racing :)
