Tournament Version CNR

CNR is a game of Cops and Robbers. Back in its hey day CNR was an exciting addition to MTM2. While CNR is not usually a tournament part of MTM2, I have enjoyed exploring the wonderful CNR tracks made by some very talented MTMers and felt some gamers would like to give this a try, so here goes...

The revised rules on this page were listed by ShadowPrincess for CNR Tournaments.
Krystal Ize is credited with the idea for the CNR format for MTM.  AlpineGZ put her ideas into print.
The LAPD team saved this and were strong supporters of this style of play for MTM.
So come on :) Grab your mates for a fun time on one of the many CNR tracks available.

Firstly download the files at the bottom of the page, these will be a good start to your CNR racing.

Cop or Robber?  Cops and Robber/s will be decided by random assignment.

Trucks, Cars, Tracks:
The tournament host will select the track to be run.  Gamers are very welcome to put forward suggestions for tournaments, this is greatly encouraged.
CNR trucks are available  -  both Cops and Robbers have a variety of choices.
The truck pack below was chosen carefully.  While there are many trucks for CNR, this pack consists of only those trucks with low vert count and those trialled to produce less lag.  If you wish to use stocks feel free, but these were made to add to the fun and feel of the chase.  To use them is your choice however ALL players need to download so that any truck chosen from this pack can be seen in the game.
Cops and Robbers may change their trucks each round.

Boundary Limits:
To add to the excitement, boundary limits will be set on SOME tracks. If set this will be listed on the tournament page.

Time Limit:
Our CNR tracks are set as rumbles and therefore timed. Time limit for CNR Tournament rounds will be set at 15 mins. A tournament will usually consist of 3 x 15min rounds, however the number of players can influence and determine this.

Suggested sets
are up to the individual, however 1500 medium or shallow (depending on surface) , soft suspension and automatic transmission are a guide only.

In Game Chat:
Some people find it helpful to communicate with other players in the game and since a capture involves co-operation amongst the cops, then in game chat is allowed.   On tournament days you can join the nominated server to add to the fun of the chase.  You can even set up rooms, one for Cops and one for Robbers if you like, to enable you all to get those strategies going.

The game begins:
Robbers have a one minute head start, Cops then 'seek' out and try to 'capture' the Robber/s.

How a 'Capture' is made:
a) A Robber becomes trapped and is pinned in by Cop cars without a means to escape.
b) If Cops force a Robber onto a part of the track that a Robber cannot get out of.
c) If a Robber is driving along, with no Cops in close proximity and topples his own vehicle on its side, that IS a potential capture, and all a Cop has to do is come in contact with the Robber's vehicle before the game sets the Robber's vehicle back on its wheels.
d) If a Cop slams a Robber onto his side or roof, but the robber makes contact with an object (for example a wall, tree, building etc) that forces him to crash his vehicle this IS a capture. (Imagine running from the Cops for real, you trip over, would the cops wait for you to get up? Not likely lol, they would slap on the cuffs!)

Bearing all this in mind, if you feel a capture is unfair, speak with the tournament host whose decision will be final.

A captured Robber will park his/her vehicle and remain inactive for the remainder of the game..

Hosting:
IF there is room, the tournament host could join the room and sit and watch the game also keeping count of all 'captures'. If there is more than one robber, then a cop who makes a capture is to report the capture via ingame message (i.e. cop smith/robber jones) and the host will acknowledge the capture.  If there is only one robber it should be very easy for the host to see the capture.

The Robber may ONLY use the helicopter if he/she is in a inescapable situation, such as in deep water with no climbable walls, and the like.

Any use of the helicopter for means of cheating, such as escaping from the Cops and trying to get on top of buildings, etc., will result in your being disqualified for that round.

If a Cop has to leave the game, the game will continue.
If a Robber has to leave the game he/she will be counted as a 'capture' and the game will continue, or in the case of only one robber he/she will be counted as a 'capture' and the game will end.

If all Robbers are captured prior to the end of the game, the Cops are declared the winners.
If all the Robbers are not captured when time expires, the Robbers win.

Scoring:
If MORE than one Robber -
and the Cops win they get 10 points each and the Robbers gets a token 5 points each.
OR if the Robbers win they get 10 points each and the Cops get the token 5 points.

Most of the time there should be enough gamers for more than one Robber, if there is not sufficient gamers and only one Robber is in the play the scoring will go as follows...

If only ONE robber -
and the Cops win they get 10 points each with the Robber getting a token 5 points.
IHowever, if the Robber wins, he gets 20 points (for being greatly out numbered) and the Cops get
nothing.

Remember, not every host will use the same rules, or scoring points, this just adds to the individuality and fun of the tournaments.

Now grab your friends and favourite trucks and lets hit the tracks, most importantly this is a game so have FUN !!!! *** SP
